Olly Shaw is a 26 year old professional On and Off-road Triathlon athlete from Rotorua, New Zealand. Living and training in Rotorua, the mecca for mountain biking, trail running, and open water swimming, Olly has the perfect platform to chase his dreams.

He has been a previous Xterra 20-24 age group World Champion, Asia-Pacific 70.3 Champion, New Zealand Elite Cross Triathlon Champion, and was 1st New Zealander home at the Xterra New Zealand Champs in 2013 and 2014 where he finished 3rd professional. He is currently ranked 8th in the world after a top 10 finish at the ITU Cross Triathlon World Champs.

Olly has already achieved over 10 Xterra World Tour podiums in the past three years and won his first World Tour race at the Motatapu Xterra in early 2016.

Olly dreams of winning the Xterra World Championships, and the Ironman World Championships, and will be chasing these throughout his career.

Olly has also graduated from the University of Waikato, where he was a Hillary Scholar, with a Bachelor of Sport and Leisure Studies and is using his knowledge and experience to help other athletes set and achieve their goals and dreams.

What are Olly's Marmot Favourites?

Marmot Tullus Hoody

The Marmot Tullus Hoody is my go to everyday jacket. As well as training 25+ hours a week, I also work at a Primary Health Organisation. A normal day starts at the pool at 5.30am, which isn't exactly the warmest part of the day. The Tullus Hoody is perfect for the cooler temperatures in the morning, and is equally as capable when I get to the office and need to be looking smart.
It's light and warm
As a triathlete, I am constantly travelling with my bike which means the weight of my gear is a priority. Weighing only 480 grams, this is a very light jacket. With a 600 Fill Power Down, the jacket is very warm and thin and can easily be worn under a full waterproof jacket should the weather take a turn for the worse.

It's water-resistant

While the Tullus Hoody isn't completely waterproof, it is water-resistant which means on those drizzly days you stay warm and dry.

Marmot Regulator Short and Windridge Top

The Marmot Regulator Short and Windridge Top are my go to training clothes for running. Light, durable and comfortable, this combination delivers whether I am out on the road or on the trails. Available in a huge variety of colours, there is something to suit everybody.

Marmot Trail Wind Jacket

The Marmot Trail Wind Jacket is a light weight wind resistant and water repellent jacket. I use this jacket as my top layer either cycling or running if the wind picks up and it's getting a little chilly. The Trail Wind Jacket is available in five different colours giving you a lot of choice. I personally chose the Bright Lichen scheme to ensure I'm seen when out training on New Zealand roads.

As a long time runner, I found a love for ultra running here in New Zealand, dabbling in endurance distances.

While maintaining my ultra running, I’m also prioritizing learning new alpine skills to ensure I can move efficiently and quickly through all mountain terrain, whether that be groomed running trails, jagged scrambly peaks, mountain bike tracks, or off-piste ski routes. I want to learn it all!

Skiing is my passion and my life, and I am super grateful for having the opportunity to travel the world competing and meeting rad people along the way.

I've been competing internationally for 6 or 7 years and recently finished my rookie season on the Freeride World Tour 2017 and I am currently ranked 6th male skier in the world.

Now my objective is to go hard in FWT 2018 as well as the FWQ 4* events and see if I can keep this thing rolling on for a while longer!

I grew up in a small ski town in the North Island of NZ called Ohakune. Its here that I gained the passion I have for skiing and being in the outdoors! I grew up skiing Ruapehu and competing/training in racing.

I've been competing on the FWQ circuit for the last 2 years and have also been competing in Canada! Currently, I am ranked 6th in Europe/Oceania and its my dream to one day make it to the Freeride World Tour.
